My heart is so sad to tell you that our dear friend and Hope House Mother, Peggie Balcolm, passed away last night.
Peggie was having a girls' trip with her daughter and sister in New York. They were walking down the sidewalk and she simply passed out. She was rushed to the hospital, but the doctors there could not revive her. At this point, that is all the news I have. I do not know the cause of death nor do I have any other details to give at this time. It seems impossible that she is gone.
However, I do know that Peggie is in Heaven now with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Most likely, she has already organized a sing fest and is testing out all the ways her immortal spirit can move to the amusement and joy of everyone around her. That's how I picture her anyway, because that's exactly how she was here.
Please take a moment and say a prayer for her husband Ken and their children Tully and Caralie. As you can imagine, they are in need of comfort and peace that only the Holy Spirit can pour out. In addition to this, there will be substantial expenses in getting Peggie's body back to Arizona as well as the funereal and burial costs. If this is something you would like to help with, you may donate here and we will make sure the family receives it. Simply choose "Missionary Support: Balcolm" in the field just below the donation amount.
Also, please pray for our current and former Hope House residents. For the past ten years, Peggie has been their mother. She has loved them, cared for them, prayed over them, coached them through deliveries, listened to their hurts and has been the shining example of what our Heavenly Father intended us to experience within a family. For most of the residents, Peggie was the first person to exemplify agape love for them. Her role in their lives is not one that can ever be replaced.
With that being said, if you have ever worked as a Relief Mom and could volunteer your time as we navigate through this unimaginable path, please let me know when you are available.
In the meantime, I appreciate your prayers for all of us who had the privilege of knowing this amazing, beautiful, joy-filled woman. Our world is certainly darker and poorer with her not in it.
